Each counter top is made from top-grade American Black walnut that was sustainably harvested and finished with a food-safe penetrating oil, the same factory finish used on the world-famous John Boos cutting boards and butcher blocks.

The oil finish is absorbed into the wood fibers, enhancing water resistance and making spill clean-up easier. John Boos recommends regular oiling to preserve the beauty and durability of the countertop (John Boos Mystery Oil sold separately on Amazon).

These countertops are constructed with full-length exterior rails and random finger-jointed interior rails. During installation, it is important to note that an overhang of 8 inches or more (width), and 12 inches or more (length) must be stabilized with support.

These beautiful blended walnut countertops are made in the USA by skilled craftspeople and are designed to enhance and complement any style of kitchen design or décor. They are highly functional, easy-care alternatives to granite or stone counters, and can be used as a food prep and cutting surface.

Varnique (sealed/finished) versions of this countertop are available and sold separately. It is important to note that this is not a reversible countertop. The reverse side (that will be installed facing downwards) may sometimes include slight irregularities, such as a nick, in the wood. These irregularities are intentional, as they are a result of the sustainable approach to utilizing all parts of the wood.
